Men när vi klev in i den mörka lokalen och hittade ett trevligt bås längst in så var det svårt att hitta just matmenyerna – de låg nämligen lite hemligt gömda bakom baren. Utöver pizzor och barmat så bjöd menyn på fyra olika smashburgare, alla med två 80-gramsköttpuckar, samt en vegetarisk burgare. Valet föll på en Dubbel Cheese Burger med dubbel ost, silverlök, pickles, senap, ketchup och chipotlemajonnäs för 179 kronor och en Red Hot Chili Burger med dubbel ost, silverlök, jalapeños, chilisås och chipotlemajonnäs för 189 kronor. I priset ingick även pommes frites och en chipotlemajonnäsdipp.
Våra burgare såg helt okej ut när de serverades lite bryskt vid vårt bord. Det mjuka, fabriksbakade brödet hade värmts på lite på utsidan av kronan, och köttet hade en ganska trevlig och krispig stekyta. Köttpuckarna var dessutom välsaltade och ganska saftiga. Dubbel Cheese var väldigt klassisk i sina smaker, och tillskottet av chipotlemajonnäs störde inte nämnvärt. Red Hot Chili Burger var lite spretigare i smaken, främst på grund av den ganska ettriga hettan från chilisåsen. Pommes fritesen var goda och välfriterade, och vi gillade tillskottet av grillkrydda. Däremot hade vi gärna fått välja en annan dippsås än just chipotlemajonnäs då den fanns på så gott som alla deras burgare ändå. Den var nämligen väldigt tam och söt, och tillförde inte mycket.
Det är nog inte många som besöker Rockbaren enbart för burgaren, utan hit kommer man främst för trevligt häng och grym musik. Men om du ändå besöker dem så är burgarna ett självklart val om du är hungrig.

Located just off Avenyn in the heart of Gothenburg, this rock bar is all about the beer and the rock, but we’ve also heard a lot of good things about their burgers. We stepped into the dark bar and found a nice booth at the far end, but had more trouble finding their food menus as they were secretly hidden behind the bar. In addition to pizzas and bar food, their menu offered four different smash burgers, all with two 80-gram beef patties, as well as a vegetarian burger. We ordered a Dubbel Cheese Burger with two slices of cheese, white onions, pickles, mustard, ketchup and chipotle mayo for 179 SEK (17 USD) and a Red Hot Chili Burger with two slices of cheese, white onions, jalapeños, chilli sauce and chipotle mayo for 189 SEK (18 USD). The price also included fries and a chipotle mayo dip.
Our burgers looked pretty decent when they were served a little rudely at our table. The soft, factory-baked bun had been slightly warmed on the outside of the crown, and the patty had a rather nice and crispy crust. The beef patties were also well salted and quite juicy. The Dubbel Cheese was very classic in its flavours, and the addition of chipotle mayo didn’t interfere much. The Red Hot Chilli Burger was a little more unbalanced, mainly due to the abrasive heat from the chilli sauce. The fries were nice and well-fried, and we liked the addition of grill seasoning. However, we would have liked to choose a dipping sauce other than just chipotle mayo as it was on almost all their burgers anyway. It was also very bland and sweet, and didn’t do much for us.
People probably don’t visit Rockbaren just to eat their burger, as this is a place to hang out and rock out. But if you’re already visiting them for this reason, their burgers are a great choice if you’re hungry.
